Podiatry and musculoskeletal:

Biomechanics and gait analysis is a way of looking at how people walk, run, and move and the structures that get stressed and strained within the foot, leg and the rest of the body.
A musculoskeletal podiatrist assesses the mechanics of the lower limb and how it relates to the rest of the body, using different techniques like video gait analysis.
Conclusions are made through analysis to develop the best programme to resolve any abnormalities causing or which could potentially cause a problem. A musculoskeletal podiatrist can initiate a specific rehabilitation programme designed to help reduce your pain, or develop a programme to prevent any potential problems.
There are different treatments including exercises, orthotics (insoles), taping etc. The use of an orthotic can help align the foot and ankle to work more efficiently. A custom-made orthotic will provide the best possible outcome.

Nail surgery

Nail surgery:

For the treatment of ingrowing toenails it is sometimes necessary to remove them under local anaesthetic.
This procedure can be done to remove all or a portion of the affected nail. A chemical will be used to destroy the cells that form the nail to create a permanent removal of the nail.
The procedure usually takes about 1 hour and no hospital stay is needed.

Ultrasound guided steroid injection

If it is deemed clinically appropriate a ultrasound guided steroid injection can be performed. Steroid is a anti-inflammatory and can calm down a irritated structure, however we have to be cautious with when they are used so this will be discussed as an option in an assessment This can only be provided at Bristol physio location.

Anyone who uses a protected title must register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Such registration is normally only granted to those holding a specialised Bachelor's degree or Diploma in podiatry.
